Gifford Hill
- Details
Gifford Hill, the Murray Bridge Equine and Village Development, is a significant government-supported urban growth project and racecourse development within the Murray Bridge Council area, located approximated 50 minutes’ drive from Adelaide CBD.
Soon to take shape, the centrepiece for Gifford Hill is a state-of-the-art racing and entertainment complex. Sarah Constructions has been working closely with the developer, Burke Urban and the Murray Bridge Racing Club to ensure this will become a world-class facility for racing, while also accommodating a range of function, entertainment, dining and community experiences.
The complex will feature two architecturally-designed buildings. The main race building of approximately 2000sqm will accommodate racing patrons in the public, members and committee areas, which can be separated by removable walls and also readily opened up to cater for larger events such as conventions, functions, exhibitions, weddings and receptions.
Smaller and split over two levels, the second building will accommodate stewards, administration and jockeys at ground level and a corporate function area with an extended deck at the first level. This corporate area will double as a smaller function and meeting area for the community on non-race days.
The project signals an exciting new era for the racing industry across Australia and will create a vibrant and valuable equine and tourism destination for South Australia.
Gifford Hill spans an 809 hectare parcel of land south-west of Murray Bridge which will ultimately accommodate some 3,500 residential and equine allotments, a racecourse, racing club, motel, town centre, school, open spaces and much more.
