South Coast Hospital Emergency Department Upgrade

Value: $800k
Delivery Method: Lump Sum Contracting
Project type: Health and Aged Care

Description:

Works commenced by relocating all of the existing ambulance and emergency area to the new proposed area located at the far western end of the hospital, this was to facilitate the intake of emergency patients and ambulance deliveries throughout the duration of the construction works.

Once the temporary emergency area works were completed, construction began with the demolition of the existing ambulance and emergency areas. The building consisted of two planned stages. The first stage included the construction of a new waiting room, triage, w/c, ambulant corridor, quiet room, and cleaners facility room as well as new external ambulance canopy, and all external façade works, including civil and landscaping works.

Stage 2 works included the reconstruction and fit-out of areas throughout the existing hospital facility (whilst in operation). These areas included multiple corridors, new nurse’s station, new treatment areas, upgrade of ambulant w/c’s, and upgrade of blood storage and general storage rooms. This work required specific staging into smaller components as to not affect the operation of the hospital and the handover of certain areas was undertaken to the hospital progressively throughout the duration of stage 2 works.
